Registered Migration Agents

The Australian Migration Act 1992 clearly states that only Australians registered as Migration Agents may provide advice and assistance in relation to migration matters. Lawyers are not permitted to give immigration advice and assistance unless they have been registered.

The Office of Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) is the responsible body governing the admission, re-registration and conduct of Migration Agents. Registered Migration Agents in Australia are bound by a strict Code of Conduct. A copy of the Code is available at the OMARA website, or through your Migration Agent.

If you wish to make a complaint about the conduct of a registered migration agent you should contact the OMARA.

Migration agents and persons giving migration advice and assistance overseas are not bound by the strict regulations regarding registered migration agents in Australia. It is advised that you contact a registered migration agent when seeking advice and assistance on immigration matters.
